Preface
Imagine a device so powerful, it can bend and shape energy to a user's will.
Imagine this device can harness this energy to create solid constructs--tools, weapons, shields, the possibilities are endless.
Imagine a world where these devices are almost common place, where many individuals in their day to day lives had access to this power.
Now imagine that most of them don't even know what the device is capable of. They wear it everyday, perhaps from custom, or some religious devotion. Some of them even use them a limited extent. But they have never learned its true purposes. Why they were given to humanity, the threats they were meant to combat, or the lives they were meant to save.
Come into that world, and see if anything looks familiar...

For those of you reading the comments, I'll occasionally leave little notes about what's going on in the story. These stories will vary on a scale of allegorical and straight fiction. Consider this very in the allegory side. So keep an eye out for what might symbolize what. Maybe I'll fill in then details in the comments, maybe not, I dunno. Or, maybe you could give your own interpretations here, and we'll get some real discussion going! See ya around!
